Could sudden increase in activity be negatively affecting my diet?

I'm (27 F) finally starting to get more active for the first time in my life. I fluctuate between 109-120 pounds, at 5'4, but lean towards the lower side. I can manage my weight easily through diet alone, and have more or less been a couch potato, otherwise.

My physique is what you would call "skinny-fat", so I started cleaning up my diet, and this time I started exercising as well, more or less to tone up. So every day, or every other day, I've been jogging. I've been doing this for about three weeks. It was hard at first, but now I can maintain a pretty moderate pace. I'm also doing this for the cardiovascular benefits, and to manage my depression -which has been effective so far-

However, I've noticed that I'm way hungrier, and my sugar cravings are even worse than they usually are. (The cause of my flab in the first place) Is this normal? I usually have no problem with diets, but when I throw in exercise, it seems that all goes out the window and I'm all but helpless against pizza and ice cream.

Has anyone had this experience? I know I just started exercising, so I wouldn't be seeing results this quickly anyways, but with my newly ravenous appetite, I don't think that was gonna happen anyways. I'm also disappointed because i was under the impression that exercise would help me manage my hunger, not make it worse. But I enjoy exercising and don't want to stop. How do I fix it?
