Since I (25F) started exercising regularly for the first time in my life a couple of months ago, I’ve noticed a ton of few muscles and parts of my body that I’ve never been able to see before. I wasn’t ever super overweight, but I’ve always been on the heavier side and haven’t ever exercised enough to see muscle gain.
I have these little divots where my legs meet the front of my hips, right next to my hipbones. I can see my serratus muscles (the little muscle lines along your ribcage). There is a distinct line that separates my abs vertically, and I can see where my back muscles brunch together when I flex. These are all aspects of my body that I have never seen before in my life.
It’s been such a joy seeing my hard work reflected in such an interesting way, and it’s been way more exciting than any kind of fat loss alone. I didn’t start working out for aesthetic reasons (I wanted to lower my heart rate, mostly) but this has been the most unexpected and delightful part of my fitness journey.
Has anyone else experienced this, and what are the newest parts of your body you’ve learned to love?
