What do you eat when you’re at someone else’s house?

I get together with some of my family almost every weekend, and while my sibling tends to cook this extravagant meal, it leaves me feeling absolutely terrible.

It’s a lot of meat, bread, and otherwise high calorie options. Burgers, brats, etc. i thought the carrots were safe until I learned they’re bathed in butter and honey. I give in to peer pressure very easily, and I feel bad not eating with everyone else. I also have no idea how it is cooked, and that makes guessing the calories tricky.

I’m trying to decide something that would be easy to bring along with me. I stop at the grocery store on my way, and find there really aren’t any great ready made options.

I was going to grab a salad from Panera Bread, but they close at 3PM on weekends. It’s too late to figure it out this time, so I’m hoping I can just get through the night without eating anything, and I can just eat something before bed when I get home, but I’m trying to get ahead of it for next weekend to hopefully reduce how goddamn stressful this is.

I would prefer something I can pick up or that is ready made, as I don’t want to need to haul dishes around with me. Curious what everyone else would do in this situation.
