Trying to lose weight

Hey everyone. I've always been a skinny guy, very active, always playing sports, but I gained a lot of weight since the start of covid and I've been struggling to get it off. Before covid started, I weighed 170 lbs. Currently I am 220 lbs. Now I'm not planning on going back to the way I looked before because I was almost too skinny then. But most of my weight has went to my butt and thighs. This has made my self confidence drop a lot because even tho I still don't look all that big, finding pants and shorts that fit me nicely is a pain. I've tried working out at home because I'm only 17 and I don't have a car or all that much money to go to the gym but I'm so out of shape and I can barely even do a pushup. So what should I do? Should I go for walks and jog (cardio), I'm not 100% sure. Someone help me please.
