how to lose without counting?

this is kind of an odd question for me to ask because i've actually lost 35lbs without counting calories. the catch is that since losing that 35lbs, i've been gaining and losing the same 10lbs a few times from september --> now. that's because anytime i've been losing without counting, i unintentionally undereat and/or over exercise and end up bouncing back and over eating for a while. it's extremely frustrating because i have 15lbs to lose until i get to my goal but i've been caught in this cycle for months now. does anyone have any advice?

the problem is that there are a few factors i can't control for example:

-i am currently home for the summer from college and my mom makes dinner so idk the calorie count of that

i just want to make sure i'm getting enough so i can finally break this plateau and binge cycle. i've also tried eating the same stuff everyday (pre-counted) but i crashed pretty quickly doing that. again, i am frustrated! any help is greatly appreciated thanks :)
