NSV - I stopped because I was full

Ha, that sounds like a sad title and something that should be obvious to most people but this was big for me. I'm currently doing a mix of OMAD and the Warrior Diet (where you eat one meal within a 4-hour window and then fast for 20 hours). Because my window is later in the evening, I usually make my plate when my family is eating and set it aside for later. I do this because 1) I'm not as hungry as I would be later so I can make a reasonable portion instead of being tempted to binge; 2) It makes me feel like I'm still participating in the family mealtime somehow.

Anyway, I portioned out a nice bowl of rice and curry, along with a grilled panini and a chicken egg roll. When it was time to eat, I had half of the panini and felt pretty full so I put it to the side to enjoy the rice and thought I'd come back to the panini later. To my surprise, I couldn't even get through half of the rice and only managed a bite of the egg roll. The most surprising part is that the food was delicious, it wasn't like it tasted bad so I wasn't tempted to eat. But I had this moment where I stared at my bowl of rice and thought, "You don't have to finish this if you're full."

Past me would have finished all of that just because I portioned it out, so hey it's mine to eat and I fasted all day so I deserve to devour it all. But something in my mind clicked and I realized, if I really felt like it, I could save the rice and eat it in tomorrow's window. And I knew if I forced myself to eat I would feel sick and heavy later.

I know this isn't a big deal for most people but after being a habitual binge eater for so long, this is a breakthrough for me. Realizing that the food wasn't going to go anywhere but that the weight might was a eureka moment for me.

I think intermittent fasting has been absolutely life changing for this. Maybe you learn to push through the hunger so you're able to pick up on when you're actually hungry vs eating out of habit. I've been doing CICO with this but not too strictly. I walk 10k steps a day which helps me keep a clear head. I've lost about 6lbs in 4 weeks and the scale has been stalling lately but seeing how it's changing my mentality towards food has given me a big boost in motivation.

Anyway, I wanted to share because I'm pretty proud of myself and I want to keep this post as a reminder to myself. I think it's these little non scale victories that are truly worth celebrating. Anyone else had a eureka moment about an NSV?
