How do you get out of the food=reward mindset?

I think one of the biggest contributing factors to my weight problem is the fact that I've managed to build up this psychological effect where food is always a reward, and the criteria for receiving that reward is very low. This causes me to snack excessively through the day both to satisfy my oral fixation but also almost like a reward for doing small things (doing school work or whatever would warrant having a favourite snack). Then every once in a while I would have a total binge session as a reward for getting through a particularly hard day or whatever. Point being, I have conditioned myself to associate food with being a reward for even the smallest of achievement. So how the heck do I get out of this mind set? I want to change my lifestyle such that food is seen more as a thing to sustain me rather than something to comfort me? I'm trying to figure out what could possibly replace food as a reward or what strategies I could use to change my mind set. Any ideas?
