Has anyone successfully shed the pounds SSRI’s made them gain once switching off?

Hello! After a year on Effexor and gaining 35 pounds, my doctor is switching me to a new medication (Trintellix) that’s not supposed to cause weight gain & should hopefully be a better fit for me overall. I’ve honestly really been struggling with this; I’m 5’2 and was consistently around 130-135 pounds for years. As soon as I started Effexor, I ballooned up. Bad.

The irony is this the healthiest I’ve ever been; I do a daily yoga practice, sometimes twice a day, and have finally healed my relationship with food where I’m more focused on nutrients, what tastes good, and reasonable portions instead of binge-eating & scarfing down trash. I know there’s some debate on whether or not meds cause weight gain, but the way I ballooned up felt so unnatural for my body, and despite everything I’ve done the pounds will not come off.

Now that I’m switching off of Effexor, I’d love to hear any experiences people once they were no longer on a medication that made them gain a ton!
