Eat more to lose weight?

17M, 170cm, 105kg, have been eating 1800 calories for as long as I remember yet always have been obese, skipped breakfast too so basically pretty much only had 1 meal per day which was dinner.

My trainer told me to start eating 2700 calories to get to the point where I don’t lose or gain weight just maintain it. And then start reducing it from there and to get a caloric deficit to lose weight.

What I’m not sure about is

A) how is eating more supposed to help me lose weight B) does eating more speed up metabolism and help lose weight like he said? C) should I actually listen to him and start the 2700 diet then reduce the calorie intake?

Edit: forgot to mention I currently do light-moderate exercise every day (mostly strength training) and from what I was able to find online and after using the TDEE and BMR calculator 2700 seems about right (unless I did something wrong) altho it doesn’t hurt to double check with others.
