I have often welcomed those who have lost 100+ lbs (~ 50 kg , ~7 stone) to “the club” and joked that club meetings were on Thursdays. I recently suggested that we try out having a regular weekly thread to talk about issues that are particular to those who have lost 100+ lbs, those who are well on their way and those who are just at the beginning of a journey this big.
Welcome back to the Century Club! Each week I will provide a topic of the day that has been on my mind or inspired by previous posts. However you are free to talk about any topics you think might be relevant to current and prospective club members.
Previous Topics: Seeing Objectively - Tips you hate - Fear and Self-Loathing - Starting - 2020 recap
Today's topic: Relief Valves
Work and home stress have been building up for me for the past couple of weeks, I didn't even get much time to respond to many of the excellent comments in last week's thread. Plus the weather sucks and I'm not getting my usual running in.
Running a nice 10K would normally be my relief valve these days, but I choose not to run when there's ice on the ground. A stupid injury would just add to the stress. I'm still active and getting my (arbitrary!) 10k steps in and either walking outdoors or doing laps around the house, but it's just not quite the same.
When I was actively losing, my monthly business trips were also a form of relief valve. I knew I couldn't quite control my diet or activity levels because I did not have access to my scale, food scale or kitchen so I had to be looser on my whole process.
And so I sit here right now, 4 lbs heavier than my weight last Thursday. Knowing that most of that is just salt, carb and stress related water weight. Longing to be able to go for a nice long run this weekend weather permitting.
What's your relief valve Centurion?
