bikini-wearers of loseit, i seek your advice!
i've always been a basic one-piece bathing suit wearer for all of my teen and adult years thus far, and favored the most standard and modest cuts you could buy. i have several memories of going to the beach with my friends' families and having an almost identical bathing suit to my friend's mom. ugh. i've lost a good amount of weight over the last few years though, and finally bought myself a high-waisted bikini. i really like how it looks from the front, but as soon as i turn to the side or sit down in it, i feel like i've never even lost a pound at all.
for reference, I am 23F, 5'2", and lost about 60 pounds (from ~200 pounds to ~140 pounds), and my waist is 29.5 inches. my stomach definitely protrudes from the side, although it looks much flatter from the front.
was there ever a moment where you felt you really looked good enough to wear a bikini? was it just a "mind over matter" thing where after wearing it out a few times it felt completely normal? i'm not sure if i'm even seeing my body in the mirror the way other people are seeing it, but i feel like my body will never be good enough to wear a bikini in public.
any and all advice, anecdotes, and/or commiserating would be very much appreciated!!
