A few years ago I got down to 191. Then work and life got in the way and I went back above 200. Covid hit me hard, I went up to 217. August rolled around and one day I looked in the mirror and thought "dude, you gotta fix that body". I talked to a coworker who was a CF coach about what plan he'd put me on. We discussed a few things, going from weight lifting to cardio. While we drove (we were on a PPE run for work) I scheduled a 1:1 at a local CF box. I went in and did the workout with the coach, then decided to join. I wasn't ready to spend that much on a membership but the Y was still closed and I left the Y due to it not meeting my needs. This day was also the anniversary of my dad's passing and one of the big drivers was me not wanting to end up like him.
CF was rough at first but I was getting a lot out of it. Many days I'd finish our WOD or metcons drained and laying on the mat, drenched in sweat with a huge smile on my face. A couple of weeks in our coach mentioned she was going to have a nutrition class to help us learn to make better choices. I joined on a lark. I chose the 40/30/30 plan, which after some tinkering I managed to make work. The class was useful, a lot of helpful ideas, daily motivations, and (most importantly) accountability. After a month (end of October) I was down to 206. Lost 8# and 4" during the month. My sleep improved and my mood was a bit better. I cut out a lot of junk - no more boozy evenings, no more fried stuff. I added more veggies and was eating 3 meals per day plus snacks. Shirts were baggier and jeans that were snug around the waist now needed a belt.
Thanksgiving was kind to me, we ate a good meal with little junk. I went up a pound or so but after I got on track I burned it off. We started another class a week later and I hit the scales at 204 right after the holiday. I changed MFP to 1850 cals/day (still 40/30/30) but haven't been closely monitoring it. I am just eating what I need to eat.
Earlier this week I hit the scale and was 200.5 The next day the same. Xmas eve, 199. Xmas morning, 199. This morning, 198.5. Christmas was different this year, I've not been drawn to the junk that is sitting in the kitchen now. Ate well yesterday and drank a ton (96oz) of water. This morning the scale was still 198.5 (90kg). Went for a metcon then a long 2 hour hilly walk with a good friend.
Next stop 190. Once I can get there and hold it, I'm rewarding myself with a new fly rod. 180 is my goal.
