Went for my first Hike today and looking for advice on calf pain.

So I'm 5'2 and 240lb woman with a sedentary lifestyle, especially since we've gone into our second lockdown here and my sister invited me, my brother and my partner (the 3 of us are a household) for a hike today.

I was a little reluctant but agreed because I've been wanting to try out hiking or at least going for walks.

It was fine for about 20 minutes but then my calves started to cramp and after each incline I needed to take a couple breaks to stop them from squeezing so tightly. It reminded me why I avoid hikes or walks, it's just really painful.

We did 1.25km and had to take the path back to the car because my partner was worried about me and didn't want me to hurt myself. So we probably did about 2.5km total on an incline and it took about an hour. I guess it really was in inclines that were killing me because on flat ground I can walk for well over an hour without stops.

In the end we didn't exactly complete our goal of completing the trail, the entire trail would have been 4km. It sucks we couldn't complete it, this trail was supposed to be an easy one according to my siblings but they're much more experienced hikers (they're average fitness levels), but I guess I'm happy with the exercise we did do.

I wanted to ask if anyone has any tips to avoid the chronic calf pain, it's always been a problem for me, I was wondering if there's a way to mitigate it?
