Last year at this time I (F30, 5’4”) weighed 190. I had back surgery the first week of November and had been following a ketogenic diet but since I couldn’t walk (hence the back surgery) and was dependent on my sister I stopped my diet and ate whatever she cooked.
We decided to continue living together as I wasn’t 100% and when the time came for us to split I moved in with my significant other who is a complete junk food addict. The problem is that I have no self control, my cravings always get the best of me, the keto diet worked wonders for my sugar cravings (that and not having a lick of sugar in the house when I lived by myself).
I have tried to get back to the keto diet, and failed. I have tried intermittent fasting and failed. I got to the point where I would wake up five times in the night and want to go eat something. I would wake up in the morning and my very first thought was about food. I became obsessed with what food I wanted to put in my mouth and I couldn’t stop thinking about it until I ate it.
I stopped trying to eat in a specific way other than trying to keep it balanced and lots of water. I feel mentally I have balanced out and I am not so focused on food, but with that I’ve gained and I am now up to 210. I would like to start working on a diet of some sort as you can’t outrun a bad diet but I’m not sure where to go from here. My significant other isn’t keen on reducing the amount of junk in the house and says it’s my responsibility to handle my cravings, which he’s right, but that was always my answer before- to empty the house of all sweets.
I would like to take control over my weight once more but I’m not sure which direction I should go. I did start working out but managed to contract Covid and I’ve started back up this week. I’d love to hear of your experiences and what has worked for you!
TLDR- couldn’t stop eating junk to the point of constantly thinking about my next snack. Stopped limiting myself, starting eating balanced meals, gained all the weight back, wanna get back on track but not sure how. Please tell me what’s worked for you!
