Hi. I've been on a diet for a while now, and I'm getting a little frustrated at my progress lately. I often eat around 1500 or fewer calories per day, and a big day is max 2000. I am 5'11", 255, with an estimated TDEE in the high 2000's, am extremely sedentary apart from working out, and weight train 3-5 days a week on a PPL split. At first my progress was very rapid, but it's slowed down significantly over the past couple weeks, and it's a bit sad. I still feel like I have been able to pick up newbie gains even with this deficit, most of the calories I eat in a day are right after I work out, and I generally do a lazy 16/8 IF. I do not feel like I am restricting myself. I try to be smart with what I eat in order to eat plenty, and stay full.
I also have been having trouble with energy through the day, and have been having the desire to nap, pretty much every day, even if I get a full night's sleep of ~8 hours, but have been unsure if the big calorie cut and energy loss are correlated, or if other factors in my life are contributing/causing it.
Does anybody have advice or experience who has been in a similar situation? I'm kind of feeling stumped. I count calories. I work out, but I don't think muscle growth would outpace this deficit-or would it? I'm losing currently 1lb or less/week(somehow usually less) over the past few weeks, while counting calories, working out, and eating at a 2.5lb/wk+ supposed deficit. I'm considering going to see a doctor, and/or taking some cheat days to try and eat closer to or above maintenance.
