(First post on this sub - you guys seem really supportive so here goes, time to stop lurking.)
Watching Netflix shows on my tablet in the peak of lockdown (March/April), I always got a little upset seeing my double chin when the screen turned black. Since the easing of lockdown in the UK, I’ve been a lot more active and haven’t had much time for watching any shows. So I didn’t notice until yesterday that the double chin is completely gone! Unless I really try, which actually physically hurts my neck, I can’t conjure it up at all!
My body likes to store the vast majority of fat around my thighs and waist - my legs and upper body were always extremely lean - so the reappearance of my jawline is by no means that much of a milestone. It was the last thing to go, so it makes sense that it’s one of the first to come back. I’ve still got a long way to go.
Regardless, I feel great. I can see my old self coming back, the version of me that actually actively wanted to be in photos and wasn’t always concerned about how other people viewed me. Last night someone took a completely candid video of me (I didn’t know until I was sent it this morning) and for the first time in a long, sad year of poor self-image, I liked the way I looked in it.
Just thought I’d share to mark my progress. If you’ve had a similar experience I’d love to hear about it :)
