Before and after: July 2019 vs. November 2019.
Story time: My first 3 years in Texas were the hardest years of my life. After uprooting my entire existence in search of academic and professional betterment, I found myself in the continental US's biggest state where I knew absolutely no one. Feeling fundamentally lonely and culture-shocked, I sunk into a horrible, dark, raging depression coupled with an oftentimes crippling anxiety.
It took loads of meds, doctor visits and personal hard work to climb out of the hole. After finally becoming clear-headed, I weighed myself in front of a mirror and saw that I had put on 50+ lbs. I knew I now had to get to work on my body and my physical health if I wanted to prosper.
Like any newbie, I half-assed it for the first 11 or 12 months and completely neglected any semblance of healthy eating. Of course, I didn't see any results.
All of a sudden, in the span of just 2 or 3 months, I moved to Austin, finally landed a job in my preferred field, adopted a doggy and married the best man in the universe. All of this gave me a completely revitalized outlook on life.
I got to work now. I REALLY got to work.
I am constantly learning about nutrition. I am eating properly. I joined a gym with a plethora of group classes. I follow an exercise plan for when I can't make it to the classes. I set small, attainable goals for a given period of time and hold myself accountable for them. I proactively take care of myself physically AND mentally in a variety of ways.
This is one of the results: my back in July (ignore the mega sunburn) vs. in November.
My current immediate goal is to be able to do at least one complete, clean, unassisted pull-up. I haven't reached that goal YET. I also haven't lost all the weight that I put on YET. But godamn, do I feel fucking proud when I see this photo comparison!
