I have hypothyroidism if that makes a difference, I’ve struggled with it since I was 12. I’ve been trying to lose weight off and on for about a year, but really buckled down over the last 6 months. For the last 6 weeks I’ve been bouncing between 141-143, and at a certain point couldn’t blame the usual culprits (my period, traveling for work).
I’ve been doing CICO and work out about 30-45 minutes a day, and rotate every other day between HIIT and cardio on the elliptical. I also do 10-30 minutes of yoga a day.
To break my plateau, I revisited my eating habits about two weeks ago. I had been eating around 1300-1500 calories a day, but was still not eating as well as I should have been. I started really paying attention to my macros and realized I was still eating too much sugar, sodium and carbs and not enough protein. I cut out iced coffees because I can’t drink them without sugar and switched to black tea. I’ve been focusing more on cooking at home, and now I’m not as hard on myself when I go over my calorie limit because I’m mostly eating fresh veggies or home cooked meals.
I also have given my body a rest the last few days and haven’t been working out, but have been doing light yoga.
Today I was finally below 140, the lowest I’ve been since freshman year in high school. I’m treating myself with an iced coffee! Thank you so much to this sub and all you wonderful participants for being so supportive and informative. I’m so happy to have found this space. Remember to be kind to yourselves, you can do it!
