I’m not sure who wrote that, but it is what I remind myself of every time I want to give up.
My wife and I started keto in January of this year. I started at 288 pounds (probably weighed more, but did not have a scale at first). I am currently at 238 pounds. When we began with our diet, we quickly realized that we would have to make keto/low carb easier. After evaluating all of our options, we decided that we would meal prep. Every Friday we create a pickup order for groceries, and every Sunday we take an hour or two and cook food for the week. We always stick with a very basic formula.
120 grams of meat. (Mostly chicken)
80 grams of vegetable 1
80 grams of vegetable 2.
Is this boring??? Hell yes it’s boring. But, we spice it up once a week or so with some delicious takeout.
(Still Low carb).
I just want to take a moment and encourage anyone who feels that a lifestyle change is too difficult to take a long hard look to food prepping. It’s easier to cook, your grocery bill ends up being cheaper, and good lord is it nice not to have to cook right when I get home from work.
I still have a long way to go. But for the first time since high school, I’m not classified as obese.
You can do this.
Just remember the quote.
