How to tell people you are on a diet?

4 weeks ago I started dieting and counting all my calories and carbs. And I successfully lost 10 pounds, and met my first goal. I rewarded myself with a new plant I've been wanting.

This is a big change from when I would eat fast food for lunch EVERYDAY. Recently people have started asking me about my food choices and when i say "Im watching what I eat and cutting down on carbs," I am met with disgust and confusion. Or they pretend to not know what carbs are or why I want to lose weight. Almost like its hard for everyone to believe I am taking control of my weight and what goes into my body. It makes me kinda embarrassed to talk about it. I get more support from complete strangers than I do my own family and friends. I told my mom i was eating in a calorie deficit and she basically said, "well you need to workout to lose weight." Implying I was lazy.. I have already lost 10 pounds and i want to be able to be talk about it. But I feel like so many people are judging me and I dont even want to share my progress. I know I am doing this for me and not them, but support and lacking and I constantly feel judged.

Does anyone else get weird responses when talking about dieting or life style changes? How do you overcome judgmental people and sharing your progress?
