Never thought things like this happened in real life, but while out walking yesterday it did.
As I was walking along I noticed a family approaching from the opposite direction. I stepped off the sidewalk and made for the road in order to social distance, but the mom, who was already going that way herself, stopped me and said "No you go ahead! The loud people belong out there anyway!"
I laughed at the obvious reference to her child who had been yelling at her from a few paces back the entire time and said "thank you" as I walked along past her, then past dad and child.
Then that's when I heard it, said loud child adding, "That lady has a big bum!"
I heard mom muttering for him to shush. I didn't have to look back to visalize the "I hope those headphones are up really loud!" look on her face.
They were not.
So, yeah, not a great moment.
On the bright side, this was at the tail end of a 4 mile walk and it's killed my thought that I should be bothered by not having children at my age.
