Healthiest way to lose fat and get in best shape?

I'm a 21, 6'0, 286 pounds man started doing cardio 6/week (30 min), weights 3/week (fairly inactive before). I started researching on the internet and as I expected, things got more confusing for me. Am I overdoing cardio? Would lifting weights while I'm still overweight stretch my skin further? should I supplement carbs & protein (If so, any recommendation)? I've been taking 75-85% of daily calories according to online calculators long before I started exercising, yet with me being fairly inactive I've been stuck at 280-290 pounds.

My goal is to shed weight and end up having a healthy, balanced body, not skinny nor bulky.
