Gyms have always been scary places but am facing my fears and starting to workout but don’t know best how to increase my activity and lose my dad belly

I (43m) work in healthcare IT and pretty much sit at a desk all day. Since the rona I’ve been working from home and even less active as I don’t need to leave the house. After realizing that my health is super important and need to increase my activity i started walking about 2 miles a day. It’s getting hotter and really don’t want to sweat my ass off so have joined planet fitness. I went for the first time today and just did the bike and the treadmill for about an hour. I’m gonna meet with someone at the gym Monday but would love a little bit of additional opinions/ advice.

What is the best exercises for first time gym goers? I’ve never really worked out ever in my life I want to lose the belly fat and just get healthier in general. Should I only go a couple times a week? Or is it ok to go every day while I’m working on my cardio?

I have also made some diet changes and eating a lot better while doing the 16/8 intermittent fasting.

I know that this is not the place for medical advice and just looking for opinions. Thanks in advance!!!
