Can dietary changes influence fat distribution? Binged for a week, dieted back down, but look significantly different when compared to a picture at the same weight from around a month ago.

I'm currently a 5' 10" male, about 150lbs at around 11-12% BF. I had a DEXA scan done shortly before the lockdown, which gave me the BF%, but also told me my estimated fat distribution. Apparently, I was carrying more fat in my arms than my abdominal and lower stomach region, which made sense when I looked at my pictures. I was lean and had abs, but my arms had little to no vascularity or definition.

I tried to do a slow cut, and slowly saw more leanness and vascularity in my arms, but about 3 weeks ago, the amount of mental stress with dealing with the current situation caused me to binge for a whole week. One day, I even ate a whole Costco Pizza on my own, and I also finished a whole chocolate cake that probably had about 15,000 calories on its own. My weight shot up to about 165, but surprisingly I didn't see much change in my arms, which maintained vascularity, but of course my mid-region significantly increased.

After the binge, I actually felt incredibly sick of food and went back to cutting. It has been 2 weeks, and I've actually dropped all the way back down to my original weight of 150lbs, but upon looking at myself and comparing pictures, I noticed significant differences. The first was that my arms were leaner and more vascular than in the before photo (when I had the DEXA scan) and pretty much comparable to how they were when I abruptly stopped my slow cut and during my binge. It would appear to me that I gained almost no fat in my arms. However, it looks like the majority of my weight went to my mid section. My abs were much more blurry in the now photo at the same weight, and I appear to have gained some puffiness/fat in my lower chest area as well.

I have basically eaten clean for the past several years, and my weekly binge was probably the worst thing I have ever done, diet wise. Thus, when I was eating clean, my fat distribution was actually nice in that I had lower mid-section fat than my surrounding area. However, my week of very unhealthy eating seems to have somewhat reversed my optimal fat distribution and dumped a bunch of fat around my midsection, which makes me look chubbier and softer despite being at the exact same weight as before the lockdown (and looking leaner back then since I didn't store a lot of mid section fat).

Because of this, I am wondering if dietary changes, even only very short ones, can negatively impact fat distribution? Note that I was still weight lifting during all this time.
